Triumph is planning to introduce its Speed Triple 1050R in India soon. According to sources, the British motorcycle brand has imported a unit of the bike holding the ‘R’ badge to India for the Automotive Research Association of India(ARAI) homologation. “R” badge represents slightly higher power and torque figures and an advanced suspension setup. There are only mechanical differences between the R badge model and ongoing standard version. The international variant of Speed Triple R houses a 1050cc, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 135 bhp of power with 111 Nm of torque in comparison to the standard variant’s 125 bhp and 104.82 Nm of torque. We expect to see similar specifications for the Indian model as the model will be imported to India and will be a CBU unit.

In place of the Showa suspension present in its standard variant, the Speed Triple R has got Öhlins shock absorbers. The front end is equipped with Öhlins 43mm NIX30 upside down forks whereas the rear carries Öhlins TTX36 twin tube Monoshock. Other than the engine and suspension system, all specifications of the bike remain same as its ongoing variant. ABS is a standard feature in both the variants, however, you can put it off for a sportier ride. The strong and powerful motor of the Speed Triple R will have a strong competition with Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and Honda CB1000R. The pricing will be one of the main deciding factors for its success in India. The standard model of the bike is priced at Rs. 11.49 lac (ex-showroom New Delhi) and the Triumph Speed Triple R, having better specifications, is expected to be priced a bit higher.
