Royal Enfield’s Latest Offering to Get a Quieter Exhaust System

Royal Enfield will be entering into an all new segment with its much awaited RE Himalayan motorcycle as the manufacturer has introduced a lot of changes that will surely place this bike into the different legacy. According to the source, the new adventure motorcycle will lose its trademark exhaust thump sound and will get a calm exhaust note. According to the company, the silent exhaust note will be appreciated by the customers.

Recently, the test mule of the motorcycle was snapped in Tamil Nadu with the pre-registration TC number plate that means the bike has reached its final stage of production. After many rounds of rumours and speculations about the launch, there are some strong indications that it is going to be launched during the 2016 Auto Expo which will be held in February next year.

The upcoming offering from the RE is built on a new platform developed by the Harris performance. It will be equipped with a 410cc oil cooled engine that is paired with a 5-speed transmission. The engine is expected to deliver 28bhp of maximum power and 32Nm of peak torque. The engine will also get overhead camshaft instead of the push rod architecture and it is expected to revolve freely up to 6,500-7,000 rpm. Moreover, the counterbalance of the engine will help to reduce the vibrations, so it is expected to be equipped with the most refined motor seen on the RE motorcycles till date.

It is strongly believed that the Indian based company will also offer an array of accessories with its latest offering like hard luggage, hand guards, crash protection bars and high windscreen. The price of this bike is expected to be somewhere around Rs 1.70 lac (Ex-showroom).
