Hero MotoCorp registers a sales decline of 5.4 percent

Reiterating its market leadership, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, today reported yet another month of over five lakh unit sales. HMCL sold 569,876 units of two-wheelers in May 2015, however, registered a sales decline of 5.4 percent. The company had sold 602,481 two-wheelers in the corresponding month last year.
Despite slowing rural economy and moderating wages in the rural market, HMCL has managed to consistently report over five lakh unit sales month-on-month.
HF Deluxe, the popular commuter segment bike from HMCL, has achieved a remarkable feet clocking more than 1 million unit sales in the financial year 2015. HF Deluxe has thus emerged as the third HMCL motorcycle brand to clock annual sales of a million units, joining Hero Splendor and Hero Passion.
Splendor iSmart, the world’s most fuel efficient bike with a mileage of 102.5 km per litre, has been another success story, having already sold over 350,000 units of two-wheelers since its launch just about a year back.
Hero MotoCorp also recently sold over 100,000 two-wheelers on the online platform through its tie-up with Snapdeal in a matter of a few months.
