November 6, 2015: Japanese manufacturer, Yamaha offered its high-end naked bike in the country that holds its appearance among the best street motorcycles in India. Christened as Yamaha FZ1, the bike comes loaded with 998cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four cylinder engine that pumps out a whopping power of 147.9bhp along with a peak torque of 146 Nm. It uses the same fuel injected mill that is used to serve the previous generation Yamaha YZF-R1. It is available for sale in India at selected dealerships and is priced at Rs. 10.72 lac (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The naked street bike comes in two colors: White and Black and gives a tough competition to Kawasaki Z1000 and Triumph Speed Triple.

Yamaha FZ1 has really revived the country’s naked bike niche with its essential existence and amazing body dynamics. The bike has been blessed with an engaging street bike feature that tribute the strong 998cc motor. The naked street bike features a 998cc, liquid cooled engine that
churns out 147.9bhp of power at 11000 rpm along with 106Nm of torque at 8000 rpm. It sports an in-line four cylinder mill that comes linked to a six-speed transmission and uses a wet multiplate clutch to transmit the power to the rear wheel. With this set-up, the machine sprints from 0 to 60kmph in just 3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 255kmph.

The bike is designed on a diamond type frame and it progress proudly on 120/70ZR17 front & 190/50ZR17 rear tubeless tyres that are fitted over the elegant 17” alloy wheels. The sound braking is provided by 320mm disc brake at the front and 245mm disc brake at the rear. Furthermore, To improve the comfort level, the company configured it with a  suspension system that comprises of telescopic forks up front and swingarm with adjustable monoshock at the rear.

It has sharply crafted body dynamics that offers a rigid naked appeal. The front fascia of the bike equipped with an edgy headlamp along with twin pilot lamp mounted at the top. Moreover, it sports a neatly chiseled fuel tank and flat handlebars, which offers a good and smooth riding position to the rider. The bike also furnished with a split seat that adds some classiness and sporty appearance to it looks. The street bike comes with an overall measurement of 2140 mm in length, 770mm in width, 1060 mm in height along with a 1460 mm of wheelbase. Its minimum ground clearance sits at 135mm. Furthermore, it is bestowed with a huge fuel tank with a capacity of 18 liters. Apart from that, it has a short sporty exhaust that matches well with its mighty appearance. The instrumentation of the bike displays plenty of information that includes a digital speedometer, analogue tachometer, twin tripmeters, fuel gauge, warning indicators for low fuel, low oil and low battery.

Design

Yamaha FZ1 comes loaded with a striking and interesting naked visuals which truly fits its names and character. Its front profile equipped with sharp and edgy headlamp section and pointed turning blinkers. Except this, the bike comes wrapped in an all-black theme which makes it look even more superior and appealing. It features a high raised fuel tank and flat handlebars that ensures an upright yet comfortable riding position to the rider. The bike sports a sporty step up, split seat that offers an optimum comfort to the rider as well as pillion. It is blessed with a short and trimmed, muscular exhaust system which enables a throaty and grunting note to match up with the bike’s aggressive attitude. Approaching toward the rear end, the machine has been furnished with a fashionable fender that ends up early and shows off the fat rear tyre quite amazingly.

Furthermore, the machine has a minimum ground clearance of 135mm that ensures a top notch stability while cornering. The motorcycle has been mounted with a huge fuel tank of 18 liters that provides it a long range for steady street biking. Its total kerb weight is summed up 214kgs. Coming down to the instrumentation, it show the plenty information and  is easy to read consisting of an analogue tachometer, digital speedometer, twin trip meters and fuel gauge along with indicators for low fuel, low oil and low battery.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Yamaha FZ1 is propelled by a 998cc, liquid-cooled engine that takes out a maximum power of 147.9 bhp at 11000 rpm along with a peak torque of 106Nm at 8000 rpm. Furthermore, the bike is equipped with an in-line four-cylinder engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission and uses a wet multiplate clutch to convey the power to the rear wheel. It has a compression ratio of 11.5:1 and has a bore x stroke ratio of 77 mm x 53.6 mm. With this arrangement, the bike reaches from 0 to 60kmph in just 3 seconds and hits a top speed of 255kmph.

Handling & Ride Quality

The naked street bike Yamaha FZ1 runs over 120/70ZR17 & 190/50ZR17 tubeless tyres at both, front and rear ends, respectively, that offer a premium bite on any terrains and comes fitted over elegant 17” alloy wheels. The fierce stopping power is provided by 320mm disc brake at the front end and a 245mm rear disc brake at the rear end. Besides this, The suspension setup consists of telescopic forks at the front and swingarm with adjustable mono-shock at the rear that avail a hassle free and comfortable ride, regardless of the road conditions.

Features
