Yamaha XSR 250 Highlights
The Yamaha XSR 250 has been spotted testing in India for the first time. It is based on the Yamaha FZ25 and packs the same 249cc air-cooled engine with an oil cooler. The fuel tank looks quite similar to the Yamaha XSR155, but the rest of the bodywork appears to be different. Expect Yamaha to launch the bike early next year, possibly around Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
The bike will be powered by the same engine as the Yamaha FZ25. In the streetfighter, this 249cc air-cooled engine with an oil cooler churns out 20.8PS and 20.1Nm, but expect the motor to be tuned differently in the retro bike.
The rest of the underpinnings are quite similar. This includes the telescopic front fork (albeit gaitered), rear monoshock, alloy wheels, 282mm front, and 220mm rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS.
The Yamaha XSR 250 will go up against the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and the Bajaj Dominar 250. That said, there are several alternatives in its price bracket including the Jawa Forty Two, Royal Enfield Classic 350, and the upcoming Yezdi Roadking Scrambler.
