The EL01 will be the 1st scooter based on this new affordable and modular platform, has a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel setup
It gets LED lighting, a large underseat boot space that the brand claims can fit 2 half-face helmets, a big floorboard, and a long seat
It will have a swingarm-mounted motor, a front disc brake, floorboard mounted battery and a centre stand
It will also introduce Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) and Ather’s new Charge Drive Controller (ACDC)
ACDC eliminates the hefty portable charger and you will only need to carry the cables to charge the scooter, AEBS uses motor to brake in addition to disc/drum
The launch could likely happen by March 2026 and the scooter could be priced below Rs 1 lakh
If Ather offers BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) like they recently did with the Rizta and 450 range, the price could be even lower, say around Rs 60,000
There will be 2 more scooters based on this platform in the future: a maxi-scooter and a compact, lightweight city scooter
The EL platform will support battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh
The unibody steel chassis is modular, and has less complex parts - this ensures cost-effective manufacturing
The maxi-scooter will get 14-inch wheels, a longer wheelbase and plusher suspension
The sporty scooter will get 12-inch wheels and have smaller dimensions overall
Production of EL-based scooters will take place at Ather’s new Factory 3.0 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra
