Piaggio Fly Expert Review

  • Overview

The renowned Italian auto maker, Piaggio Industries is planning to bring its sleek and stylish 125cc scooter in the country christened as Fly. With India emerging as one of the fastest growing two-wheeler markets in the world, the company expects some good numbers on the sales charts from its product.

Piaggio Fly is powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that develops a maximum power of 14bhp at 9,750rpm with a peak torque of 12Nm at 8,000rpm. The forced air-cooled mill is mated to an automatic transmission system that delivers a smoother performance along with a decent fuel economy. The company claims a top speed of 98kmph for the scooter.

The scooter is bolted on a tube type chassis that gives it a rigid body skeleton. Piaggio Fly is fitted with 120/70-12” tubeless tyres at the front as well as rear. Its suspension setup includes 32mm telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and 73mm hydraulic single shock absorber at the rear. To perform the braking tasks effectively, the company has equipped the scooter with 220mm disc brake with twin piston calliper at the front and 140mm drum brake at the rear.

The body design of Piaggio Fly looks impressive with stylish eye-shaped headlamp section at the front. The clear lens turning indicators are fitted separately on the front apron looking stylish. The company has provided a longer seat on the scooter to provide comfort to the rider and pillion. The rear end features a conventional rectangular tail lamp section with clear lens blinkers. The vehicle measures 1,880mm x 735mm x 1,150mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase of 1,326mm. It has a fuel tank of 7.5 liter capacity.
