TVS NTORQ Expert Review
The TVS NTorq 125 is the sportiest offering from TVS’s Scooter lineup. It comes equipped with many industry-leading features such as voice-guided navigation, real-time social media alerts, live sports score updates, and much more.
DesignThe TVS NTorq 125 has a muscular styling and an overall attractive body design, its sportiness is enhanced by the sharp body panels that gel quite well with the snazzy colour schemes and flashy graphics.
Engine, Mileage & PerformanceThe NTorq is a very capable scooter on its own but has been overshadowed by the Race XP edition in terms of power. The Race XP has the edge when it comes to acceleration and covers 0 to 60 kmph faster than the standard variant by over a second and reaches 80 kmph from a standstill three seconds quicker than the BS6 NTorq 125.
The ‘Street’ Label on the NTorq 125 and what it means for the Race XP might invoke a bit of curiosity. TVS realised that a high-performance scooter might not be the most fuel-efficient option for city commutes, so they made some adjustments to the ECU for the Street mode.
This Street mode not only maintains commendable highway efficiency but has also brought improvements in city fuel efficiency, even though the Race XP outperformed the standard NTorq by a significant margin.

The TVS NTorq 125’s ride quality has been on the firmer side, a feature that contributes to its stability during high-speed cornering, even with two riders on board. This characteristic has been carried over to the Race XP variant where the same suspension setup works in harmony with a slightly reduced kerb weight. The already generous tyre width combined with this suspension setup has enhanced manoeuvrability and makes the scooter quite agile.
Despite the easy and neutral handling, the NTorq 125 Race XP maintains a composed and steady feel even at higher speeds. Additionally, the substantial 155mm ground clearance ensures that there won’t be any ground clearance issues encountered.
ComfortThe NTorq 125 has always been good when it comes to seating comfort and this remains unchanged in the Race XP variant; tall riders can sit comfortably with slightly bent elbows and maintain an upright riding posture. The seat is spacious and cushioned, providing ample room for both the rider and the pillion, unless both are exceptionally tall. The small raised area between the rider and passenger seat helps the rider stay in position.
The handlebar is placed at a suitable height, and only the tallest of riders will see their knees touch the handlebars during extreme turns. The switches and buttons are of excellent quality, and are quite accessible. The footboard is wide and long, accommodating full-size riding boots while still leaving enough space for a medium-sized backpack.
One minor issue to note is that the rearview mirrors, while large, may partially show the rider's elbow to larger riders or those wearing bulky jackets.
Features
The standard NTorq comes with a digital display that provides a lot of features besides the basics, like showing speed, fuel level, engine temperature, trip meters and total distance travelled. It comes with things like a timer for 0-60 kmph acceleration and a lap timer with top speed recording and is also bluetooth enabled so you can get personalised welcome messages, call/message notifications, auto-reply for texts, turn-by-turn navigation and even find where you parked your scooter.
The Race XP variant takes this a step further and comes with features that are quite rare on Indian scooters, both electric and conventional. Post-ride stats like distance covered, how long it took, average speed and engine’s RPM can be accessed. The scooter also comes with a voice assistant for controlling the app on your phone, allowing you to switch riding modes and turn on navigation hands-free.
Should you buy the TVS NTorq 125?
The BS6 transition did leave us a bit disappointed and it seemed like the NTorq lost some of its appeal, but fortunately TVS had addressed these concerns with the Race XP edition. The scooter is the most powerful in the 125cc category and comes with a wide range of features like useful riding modes and Bluetooth connectivity via TVS’s SmartXonnect app.
The scooter is quite fuel efficient and handles well. Also, the brakes are dependable, which nearly makes it the perfect scooter. Whether you are commuting to the office or going for a weekend ride, the NTorq 125 race XP has you covered.
