Jupiter Expert Review
The TVS Jupiter 110 is popular in the 110cc commuter scooter segment. It is known for its practicality, comfortable ride quality, and straightforward design. Available in 6 variants and 16 colours, the Jupiter caters to customers with different budgets, and diverse preferences.
Design
The TVS Jupiter 110's design is simple and functional, aiming to cater to a broad audience. The clean design lines make it visually appealing without being overly flashy. A notable feature is the external fuel filler cap, which adds to the convenience by allowing fuelling without the need to open the seat.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The TVS Jupiter 110 is powered by a 109.7cc BS6.2-compliant engine, producing 7.88PS @7500rpm and 8.8Nm @5500rpm. While it is pretty refined overall, there's a bit of roughness at lower speeds, which go away as you cross 35-40kmph. The performance is adequate for city riding, but feels strained if ridden on the highway at speeds of over 70kmph in long stretches.
In our real-world mileage tests, the Jupiter 110 ZX Disc variant delivers 64 kmpl in the city and 52 kmpl on highway; its 6-litre fuel tank capacity should ensure a decent range for daily commutes.
Handling & Ride Quality
The TVS Jupiter provides a comfortable ride with its telescopic fork and a 3-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. The suspension setup is soft, and this along with the 12-inch alloy wheels (steel wheels on the base model) ensure it can easily go over bad roads. The 90-section tubeless tyres are adequately grippy too. Braking is handled by 130mm drum brakes on both ends, with the ZX Disc and Classic variants featuring a 220mm front disc, all equipped with CBS (combined braking system). We tested the disc variant, and the lever feedback was good for a commuter scooter.
Comfort
The TVS Jupiter 110 features a well-cushioned seat that provides ample space for the rider and the pillion. The legroom is adequate enough for taller riders too. Additionally, certain variants, such as the Classic and the ZX Disc SmartXonnect, come with a cushioned pillion backrest for added comfort. The seat's tapered front section allows the riders to easily hop on or off the scooter.
Features
The TVS Jupiter 110 has various features designed to enhance convenience, safety, and the overall riding experience. It gets an LED headlight across all variants. The base variant of Jupiter gets a basic analogue instrument console displaying essential details like speed and fuel level. Upgrading to the ZX variant, riders receive a semi-digital instrument cluster, combining an analogue speedometer and digital inset that has the fuel gauge, odometer readings, among others.
The ZX SmartXonnect variant introduces a fully digital LCD console with smartphone connectivity. It also gets features such as voice assist, turn-by-turn navigation, and alerts for calls and SMS.An additional layer of convenience is provided by the USB charging port on the apron, with an option for an under-seat USB charging port.
The ZX disc variant introduces a silent starter system, branded as iTouchStart, which ensures a noise-free and smooth engine start up. The 21-litre underseat storage is spacious enough too.
Should you buy TVS Jupiter
The TVS Jupiter 110 is ideal for riders seeking a reliable and practical commuter scooter. Its simple yet functional design, comfortable ride quality, and practical features make it suitable for daily commuting. Moreover, with competitive pricing and a wide variety of variants, the TVS Jupiter 110 is versatile enough for riders with different budgets.
