Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X Latest Update
29th November 2018: The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X has been launched with dual-channel ABS at Rs 2.13 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It commands a premium of around Rs 15,000 over the non-ABS variant. The Thunderbird 500X is the newest addition to the Thunderbird family. Notable features include a bright paint job with blacked-out components like the engine, headlight, twin-pod instrument console, alloy wheels, exhaust, front fork stanchions, and black grab rail. You now get 19-inch front and 18-inch rear 9-spoke alloy wheels with tubeless tyres and a new single-piece seat in place of the standard split seats. There are two colour options: Getaway Orange and Drifter Blue. The new Thunderbird 500X continues to draw power from the 499cc air-cooled, Twin-spark, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine from the Thunderbird 500. Mated to a 5-speed transmission, the bike produces 27.57PS of power and a peak torque of 41.3Nm at 4,000rpm. There are 41mm telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable preload twin gas-charged shocks at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by the 280mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes.

Thunderbird 500X Expert Review
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is a more street-oriented version of the Thunderbird 500 touring bike. For starters it comes in two bright colours: Drifter Blue and Getaway Orange. Rest of the bike including the engine and exhaust features a blacked out finish. The handlebar is shorter for better control. It gets 9-spoke alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. Other bits are LED headlight with daytime running lights, a twin-pod semi-digital instrument cluster. It gets a single-seat unit in place of the split seats on the regular Thunderbird.
Power is courtesy of a 499cc fuel-injected, air-cooled, single cylinder, the twin-spark motor that develops max power of 27.57PS at 5,250rpm and a peak torque of 41.3Nm at 4,000rpm. The motor is coupled with a 5-speed transmission. The mechanical specs remain same as on the stock Thunderbird 500. Considering the same equation, the bike is expected to yield a fuel economy of 30kmpl.
The bike is priced at Rs 1.98 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and competes against the Bajaj Dominar and Mahindra Mojo.
