The Ideal RE
The Ideal RE
I had been owning a pulsar 200ns for 2 years and I wished to upgrade to a bigger capacity motorcycle and its why I chose the Thunderbird 500. Now coming to the bike it is amongst a few perfect bikes royal Enfield has made alongside continental and the Himalayan. the power delivery is to the point and instant with 41.3 nm's of torque pulling you alongside the 27 horses at play. Equipped with a host of tech and features this bike is complete with barely any changes required. Also not forgetting the big capacity 20l fuel tank which means fuel stops wouldn't be so frequent. The riding posture is well suited for long highway hauls as well as short city commutes. Finally coming to the trademark of all RE bikes the vibrations well, in this case, I am glad to say there aren't any until 110 kmph and even after that it's just a slight buzz that I feel from the footpegs and thankfully nothing from the handlebars. you can comfortably cruise around 90-100 speeds all day long. Now coming to the cons, initially the bike performs well and good without any power lag on acceleration but after a year or so the EFI system fails to deliver fuel at the ideal pressure for proper throttle response. you could have your fuel pump and throttle body cleaned which would restore some original feel but the bike never performs like new, which is why we see many EFI owners converting their bikes into the carburetor. Also not forgetting that in case the EFI fails to work or gets damaged, replacing it would set you back by thousands of rupees! The stock seats provided are comfortable for city commute but during long rides, you'll find yourself having a sore butt along with lower back pain. these are the only flaws one would find in the bike. All in all, if the company resolves this issue of the EFI's malfunctioning this way this would surely go on to be a perfect bike. It's definitely a worth buy and bang for the buck.
