Great Bike - Royal Thunderbird 350X
The bike Royal Thunderbird 350X is pretty good. Please do not compare it with Dominar 400 or any other bike which does not sit in the same class. This bike is a cruiser and not a sports cruiser. And frankly speaking, you really need to love the bike to fall in love with this bike. It's not about performance, it's not about keeping the weight low, It's not about 0-100, it's not about the tech on offer. Its just about sheer driving pleasure!
People who love a classic bike with the thump, all-metal body, upright seating stance, torque at lower rev this bike is for you.
I bought the one in red and It looks cool. Royal Enfield has gone urban with the new Thunderbird 350x. The paint scheme is just eye-catching. The entire bike is coated in matte black and the tank is painted in eye-catching colours which are matched with the colour strip on the rims.
Also, the rims are new for Royal Enfield with first time offering a tubeless tyre. Tyres are good for offering a good grip. They are not too fat nor too slim, they are just the perfect size for the bike. The engine on this is a 350 CC air-cooled engine producing 20hp. Its the same engine from earlier Royal Enfield. Fuel-efficiency claimed by the company is 42kmpl but I am getting average up to 35kmpl in the city. Its not a rev-happy engine.
It doesn't like to rev hard.
But since the torque is available in the low end you don't need to rev it too hard. Above 5000rmp the response dies.
It's a 200kg bike. Sound heavy but trust me the bike is well balanced. Moving around is the city is not difficult and there you can deserve 3/5 stars. Still its a bit heavy steering and to move the bike with legs is a task. Also while making turns something you can feel the weight of the bike.
The handlebars are placed exactly right and the sitting triangle its perfect. You get an upright position to sit and while riding your hands are relaxed.
The main instrument cluster has all you need to know but the fuel meter is not accurate. It keeps changing.
The thing which is not good about the bike:
Heating issue: in city traffic, the bike heats a lot and sometimes the heat is not bearable
Vibration, the bike vibrates a hell lot which feels a bit uncomfortable also higher speeds the RVM's start vibrating and here your rear visibility is lost
Another downside for the brand is that sales is not good. The executive will not entertain you also their accent is not good, some are even rude. They will not give a follow-up after booking. Every time you need to be behind them to get your work done.
Sales team deserves 1/5 stars. I can't guarantee that the sales are the same all over India but I bought my bike from Panvel dealership.
