Thunderbird 350 Expert Review
Royal Enfield is well known for its classic and retro-themed motorcycles. The manufacturer offers 5 kinds of a machine that are Cafe racer, Retro street, Standard street, Cruiser and Adventure tourer. The cruiser range of the machine includes two models, i.e., Thunderbird 350 and its elder sibling 500. Both bikes are same in appearance, but there is only one thing that can differentiate them easily that is engine displacement and fuel supply system. Both bikes are available in same colors namely Flicker, Lightning, Marine, and Stone.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is provided with a 346cc, air-cooled, single cylinder, 4-stroke, twin spark engine that comes mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The mill is tuned to generate 19.8 bhp of power at 5250 rpm along with 28 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It uses a wet, multiplate clutch that transmits the power to the rear wheel. The bike runs on 90/90 - 19, 52P front and 120/80 - 18, 62P rear tyres that are fitted over spoke wheels. The braking system of the bike is comprises of a reliable 280mm disc, 2-piston caliper brake at front and a 240mm disc, single piston caliper brake at the rear end. Furthermore, its suspension system includes 41mm telescopic forks, 130mm travel up front and Twin gas charged shock absorbers with 5-step adjustable preload, 80mm travel at the rear end.
The bike is one of the most popular cruiser bikes in the country due to its powerful engine and dynamic design. The motorcycle sports a unique projector lamp, well-crafted instrument panel, electric start, LED tail lights and a backrest for the pillion rider. It comes with overall body dimensions of 2060 mm in length, 790 mm in width, 1205 mm in height along with 1350 mm of wheelbase. It has a minimum ground clearance of 140mm that offers a good stability while cornering. Besides this, it has a neatly designed fuel tank that can hold 20 liters that is good enough for long distance riding. The Thunderbird 350 faces competition from Mahindra Mojo and Dominar 400.
