Royal Enfield Roadster 650 Highlights
The Royal Enfield Roadster 650 has been spied for the second time, revealing more intricate aspects of the upcoming cruiser. Read more about it in our detailed report here. The Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is likely to be launched in mid-2021 for an expected price of around Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up directly against the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
The Royal Enfield Roadster 650 is powered by the same 648cc parallel twin air-cooled engine with oil cooler as the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. Expect the same output figures in the cruiser, i.e. 47.6PS and 52Nm. The engine is likely to be mated to the same 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch as before.
The double-cradle frame has been derived from the 650 twins but it has been modified extensively, particularly the rear portion. It is suspended on an inverted front fork which is a first for a Royal Enfield bike. At the rear, the cruiser gets a twin-shock absorber setup. The alloy wheels come in different sizes, with the front unit being larger than the rear. They are shod with fat tubeless tyres. Braking is via discs on both ends, with dual-channel ABS as standard.
The bike gets a low seat and a forward-set footpeg positioning. This along with the wide handlebar should ensure effortless long-distance touring capability. The twin-pod instrument cluster is likely to feature smartphone compatibility with turn-by-turn navigation like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
