About Royal Enfield Himalayan
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is the first Royal Enfield adventure bike. It was also the first Royal Enfield bike with a counterbalanced engine for better refinement. The Himalayan offers decent highway touring performance as well as off-road capabilities. Royal Enfield has replaced the Himalayan with the more advanced, more powerful and costlier Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. You can read all about it in our launch story here. If you are thinking of selling your Himalayan 411 and upgrading to the new Himalayan 450, you now have the option to do it officially via Royal Enfield’s Reown program, check out the details here.
Royal Enfield Himalayan Price:
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in a single variant, offering a choice of six distinct colours, each with its own pricing. The most affordable option, Gravel Grey, starts at Rs 2,15,900. Next in line are the Pine Green and Dune Brown models, both priced at Rs 2,22,400. Lastly, the priciest variants, namely Glacier Blue, Granite Black, and Sleet Black, are available at Rs 2,28,490 (prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Royal Enfield Himalayan Features:
Equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, the Royal Enfield Himalayan offers an optional Tripper navigation pod and a USB charging port for added convenience. The LCD screen provides essential information, including a tripmeter, an odometer, a gear position indicator, a clock, and a temperature gauge. Also, the cluster houses a fuel gauge and even a digital compass. The motorcycle also features a switchable ABS (at the rear) and a hazard lamp switch.
Royal Enfield Himalayan Engine:
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is driven by a single-cylinder, 411cc air/oil-cooled engine, producing 24.3PS and 32Nm of torque. This capable engine is paired with a five-speed transmission and is accompanied by a 15-litre fuel tank.
Royal Enfield Himalayan Suspension & Brakes:
Built on a half-duplex split-cradle frame, the Himalayan relies on a 41mm front fork and a rear monoshock for suspension. Braking responsibilities are managed by a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc setup, featuring dual-channel ABS with switchable rear ABS. The bike rolls on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, outfitted with dual-purpose tubed tyres. Offering an impressive 220mm of ground clearance and an accessible seat height of 800mm, it's worth noting that the Himalayan carries a weight of 199kg, making it relatively hefty, especially for an off-road-focused machine.
Royal Enfield Himalayan Rivals:
The Royal Enfield Himalayan rivals include the Yezdi Adventure, KTM 250 Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, and the pricier KTM 390 Adventure. Alternatively, within a similar price bracket, prospective buyers may consider options like the KTM RC 200, Honda H’ness CB350, and the Bajaj Dominar 400.

Himalayan Expert Review
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is Royal Enfield’s first ever foray into the adventure bike segment and it stands out as one of the most affordable ADVs in India. What stands out are the Himalayan’s off-road capabilities, for the bike is as good off the road as it looks rugged. With the new Himalayan 452's launch coming in, you would be wondering how the current Himalayan stacks up to the upcoming one, check out our detailed comparision here.
DesignThe Royal Enfield Himalayan has a simple, rugged design: perfect for adventurous journeys. Elements like the windscreen, tank braces, and spoked wheels with all-terrain tyres not only look great but also add to its practicality as an adventure touring bike. In fact, it even gets mounting points for panniers and jerry cans, making it quite a good choice for long trips. If you're seeking a reliable and versatile adventure bike, the Himalayan makes for a good choice.
Engine, Mileage And PerformanceThe Himalayan’s motor offers a relaxed, but not sluggish, performance. It's quite versatile and is very tractable as well. Whether you're cruising on the highway or navigating through narrow streets, the bike can do it all. However, if it’s your primary bike, be prepared for some heat during long spells of slow-moving traffic. It's a minor inconvenience in an otherwise impressive package.
Handling And Ride QualityDespite what its weight suggests, the bike is quite a nice handler. While it does demand a bit of effort when steering, once you get the hang of it, it leans into turns readily and feels quite composed.
And when it comes to tackling bad roads, the Himalayan makes it a bit of a joyride, as even the highest speed bumps and deepest potholes don't require you to slow down. Just stand up and power through. One recurring issue from the previous model, though, is the main stand scraping when going over speed bumps with a passenger on board.
ComfortWhen it comes to covering long distances, the Himalayan stands out in its segment. Its tall handlebar and the scooped-out seat make the riding position very natural and comfortable and gives the rider a commanding view. And despite its massive ground clearance, the seat height still remains a very approachable 800mm.
FeaturesThe Himalayan gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, featuring an analog tachometer and speedomete along with a digital display that shows information such as an odometer, tripmeter, clock, gear position, and maintenance alerts. But that's not all, the bike also gets a digital compass and an ambient temperature gauge for added convenience.
Furthermore, there's an optional Tripper navigation pod facilitating turn-by-turn directions. The USB port means you can conveniently charge your phone on the go too.
Should You Buy The Royal Enfield HimalayanThe Royal Enfield Himalayan’s prices begin from Rs 2,15,900 and go upto Rs 2,28,490, both ex-showroom Delhi. And that makes the bike quite a lot of value for the money. Through the changes it has received over the years, the Himalayan has become a slightly more well-rounded and desirable motorcycle than before.
