Italy is home to several iconic motorcycle brands – Ducati, Aprilia, Benelli, Moto Guzzi, among others – and each of these have been a synonym for eternal passion and inimitable work. I’ve been an admirer of them all, but a die-hard fan of Ducati since my school days. The red motorcycle maker became my favourite the day I was gifted a scale model of the majestic Ducati 916. And it remains so till now. But I need to confess something – I’ve never ridden a Ducati before this day. So, an invitation to ride one – was a big thing for me – literally!
The Diavel isn't a typical Ducati. It’s not a sportbike. It’s not drenched in red. It’s not something for what the Italian beloved brand – a byword for speed – has been known for. But what it offers is a mix of several motorcycle worlds – face-melting performance of a sportbike, comfort of a cruiser and the commanding presence of a big twin.
It is available in three variant guises – the Standard, Carbon Red, Carbon White and the range-topping Titanium. We spent a weekend astride the Ducati Diavel Carbon to get a sense of this polymath Ducati and to figure out what’s the hype all about.
