Your KTM 390 Adventure Could Soon Get An Added Dose Of Adventure

Current 390 Adventure owners could soon install the adjustable suspension and spoke wheels onto their bikes

KTM recently launched the top-spec variant of the 390 Adventure, which offers adjustable suspension and spoke wheels straight from the factory, just like the model sold overseas. These new additions will surely attract even more serious off-road riders. However, KTM hasn’t forgotten about its existing 390 Adventure owners, as they may soon be able to retrofit the adjustable suspension and spoke wheels onto their bikes.

Before we proceed, a small explainer is in order: the top-shelf KTM 390 Adventure retails at Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 21,254 costlier than the standard model. The added premium gets you a WP Apex fork with 30 steps of preload and rebound adjustability, and a WP Apex monoshock with 20 steps of rebound and 10 steps of preload adjustability. This allows individual riders to alter the setup to their liking, for a ‘perfect’ setup suited to different riding conditions. Speaking of which, it also gets spoke wheels, which are usually more flexible, making them more reliable on rough terrain.

From what we know so far, the cost of installing the adjustable suspension and spoked wheels on the standard KTM 390 Adventure may roughly be around Rs 22,000 to Rs 25,000. Yes, that’s not a small amount. But it seems quite reasonable, considering the premium that the top-spec 390 Adventure demands is also around the same anyway.

So if KTM proceeds with this programme, the owners of the standard variant will not feel left out. And finally, it will also raise the expectations among enthusiasts waiting for the upcoming Hero XPulse 400 and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
