Vespa Racing Sixties Launched In India
The retro-styled edition is among the most expensive scooters on sale in India

Vespa has launched the new Racing Sixties edition in India today for Rs 1.32 lakh, for the 150cc variant. The 125cc model retails at Rs 1.20 lakh, both ex-showroom Pune. The Vespa Racing Sixties was first showcased at Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year. In fact, the Italian brand had plans to launch the new scooter around April, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a delay. While the 125cc variant is based on the Vespa SXL 125, the 150cc model is based on the SXL 150. The Vespa Racing Sixties carries a premium of Rs 5,000 - Rs 6,000 over the standard variants, which retail for Rs 1,14,204 (SXL 125) and Rs 1,27,008 (SXL 150). At these prices, it’s also among the most expensive scooters on sale and the production will be restricted for a limited time.
What makes the Racing Sixties stand apart in comparison to the standard model is its retro-style livery which has been inspired by Vespa scooters from the 1960s. The racing stripe is a subtle addition but really helps in enhancing its visual appeal. Another element on the scooter that will definitely grab attention are the gold-finished alloy wheels. The feature list also includes an LED headlight and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
The changes made to the Vespa Racing Sixties are purely visual with no mechanical updates. The 150cc version is powered by the Vespa SXL 150-sourced 148.5cc single-cylinder SOHC air-cooled engine motor rated at 10.46PS at 7600rpm and 10.60Nm at 5500rpm. On the other hand, the 125cc variant shares its powerplant with the SXL 125. It produces 9.92PS at 7500rpm and 9.60Nm at 5500rpm. The frames in both the scooters are the iconic monocoque chassis suspended on a bottom link suspension and a monoshock. They sport a 200mm front disc with single-channel CBS/ABS and a 143mm rear drum for anchorage.
