Four-cylinder superbikes, a comeback of an epic brand, and a few EVs, all packed in just one month

In many ways, the start of 2022 didn’t really go according to plans, mainly thanks to the massive surge in coronavirus cases. However, there were a few notable instances (read ‘launches’) in the two-wheeler industry which made us, two-wheeler fanatics, quite happy. Couldn’t keep up? Well, here’s a list of all two-wheelers which came our way this month.

Yezdi’s Comeback
There had been numerous sightings of the Yezdi Adventure last year. And after quite a lot of wait, Yezdi FINALLY made a comeback on January 13, 2022.

In doing so, the company launched not one, not two, but three new motorcycles: the Adventure, Roadster, and Scrambler. These bikes come equipped with modern features and a Jawa Perak-borrowed 334cc, single-cylinder motor.

2022 Yamaha FZS Lineup
Yamaha started off 2022 with two surprise launches, the 2022 FZS Fi V3 and 2022 FZS 25. Both bikes aren’t a whole lot different from their previous selves, though, and focus mainly on the aesthetic part.

2022 Yamaha FZ-S Deluxe Launched At Rs 1.18 Lakh

The FZS Fi gets a new Deluxe variant with golden alloys, along with a new LED tail light and indicators which are now standard equipment. Meanwhile, the FZS 25 gets two new colour options, which do make it seem fresher but leave us wanting for more.

Like Yamaha, Honda also launched two new bikes in January 2022. First, the company announced the price of the BS6 CB300R, which was first showcased at the IBW. And a few days later, Honda updated the CBR650R for 2022 with two new colour options. However, in typical Honda fashion, both bikes come with substantial price hikes which are hard to justify given the updates. Click on the links above to know all about these two.

2022 KTM 250 Adventure
Everyone was expecting KTM to launch the updated RC 390 this month. Instead, the Austrian giant launched the 2022 250 Adventure here at Rs 2.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the same price as before.

The 2022 250 Adventure isn’t very different from its previous self. The suspension, engine, ergonomics, and features all remain as is. What has changed, though, are the colour options and the five-spoke alloys which are claimed to be sturdier.

Tork Kratos
Now, we come to EVs.

After keeping us waiting for more than two years, Tork Motors finally launched their electric bike, the Kratos, on Republic day. The bike is packed with truckloads of features, which are all topped off by a promising motor and battery combo. Prices of the Kratos starts from Rs 1.32 lakh while the higher-spec Kratos R retails for Rs 1.47 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Pune, FAME-II included). Confused between the two variants? Well, simply check out our dedicated ‘Which Variant To Buy’ story.

Komaki Venice & Ranger
Last but not least, we have the Komaki Venice e-scooter and the Ranger electric bike. The former bears a Vespa-like design and comes equipped with a 3kW BLDC hub motor paired with a 72V40Ah lithium-ion battery pack, having a claimed range of 100-120km. Features include LED lights, a Bluetooth-connected LCD console, three ride modes, and a reverse gear.

As for the latter, the Ranger is India’s first electric cruiser bike. It is powered by a 4kW motor, drawing power from a 72V50Ah lithium-ion battery, capable of a claimed range of 200km in ‘Eco’ mode. In addition to the Venice’s features, the Ranger packs a USB port, faux exhausts, and chrome tidbits. For full details, check out our launch story.
