Let’s take a closer look at Suzuki’s quarter-litre ADV

Suzuki marked its entry in the small displacement adventure motorcycle segment with its quarter-litre ADV offering, the Suzuki V-Strom SX. It is the most affordable ADV tourer from the Japanese bikemaker at Rs 2,11,600 (ex-showroom Delhi). What does it look like up close you might ask? Well, here’s a detailed image gallery:

From what we can see, the V-Strom SX takes design inspirations from its elder sibling V-Strom 1050, with a slim body design, edgy sharp panels, fuel tank extensions and sharp beak. Furthermore, it gets an octagonal LED headlight setup borrowed from its naked sibling, Gixxer 250.

Powering the ADV tourer is the same 249cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled mill seen on the Gixxer 250. It produces the same 26.5PS and 22.2Nm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. What’s noteworthy, however, is that the ADV is 11kg heavier than its sibling.

In terms of features, the bike comes packed with a fully digital instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. This cluster also displays information such as call notifications, message alerts, speed exceeding warning, phone battery level and ETA. Additionally, the bike also features a USB charging socket and Suzuki Easy start system.

The Suzuki V-Strom SX is underpinned by a telescopic fork up front with 120mm travel, and a seven-step adjustable rear monoshock. Rolling on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast aluminium wheels, the bike is anchored by discs on both ends with dual-channel ABS. It gets a seat height of 835mm and a ground clearance of 205mm.

The V-Strom SX rivals the likes of  the KTM 250 Adventure (Rs 2.42 lakh), Benelli TRK 251 (Rs. 2.69 lakh) and the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 2.50 lakh).
