The company intends on catering to the 225-350cc segment with its upcoming products

TVS Motor looks to be preheating its oven to bake some exciting products to sit in the 225cc to 350cc premium motorcycle segment. The Hosur-based manufacturer currently offers the Apache RR 310 and the Ronin in this segment, and aims to roll out more products citing a huge potential, which currently is unaddressed.

TVS held its MotoSoul biking festival in Goa last week, and it was while speaking to a publication that Vimal Sumbly, premium business head of TVS Motor Company, reiterated the company’s focus on filling the void that currently exists in the 200cc to 350cc segment with premium offerings.

If the company decides to fill in this void soon, we believe the best way to go about it would be by first launching the Apache RTR 310, a naked iteration of the Apache RR 310. We expect this bike to be similar in design to the BMW G 310 R, while packing most of the features we see on the RR 310.

The TVS Apache RTR 310 may be launched by the end of this year, with a price tag hovering around the Rs 2.5-lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) mark, making it an affordable alternative to the G 310 R’s Rs 2.8 lakh price tag. It will rival the likes of KTM 390 Duke and Honda CB300R.

The second motorcycle that TVS could offer would be a soft scrambler version of the TVS Ronin. This bike, in its current avatar, is kind of like a jack of all trades and master of none. It would be definitely exciting to see this platform being tweaked in a more focussed direction, preferably that of a scrambler.

TVS did showcase four custom Ronin bikes at the MotoSoul, one of which was a tasteful scrambler called the SCR, made by the company itself! While this bike sported a proper off-road-ready look with long travel suspension and spoke wheels, we’d expect the production version to share quite a few bits with the current Ronin, while featuring tweaked design and ergonomic elements. We’d also like to see a sharper rake angle on the scrambler. We expect the scrambler variant of the TVS Ronin to be launched sometime early next year, with a small premium.
