Once launched, the CB300R will be the most powerful single-cylinder bike from Honda on sale in India.

  • New CB300R will be priced under Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • Deliveries to commence by end of February or early March.
  • Will be available in two colours: Matte Axis Gray Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red.

Last week Honda 2Wheelers India dropped a bombshell announcing that it will be launching the new CB300R in India soon. Fast forward a week and Honda has now confirmed that the new CB300R will be launched in India on 8 February. The new Honda bike will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and will be the smallest displacement motorcycle in its CKD portfolio for India. The Japanese two-wheeler giant had also announced that the despite it being a CKD offering, the CB300R will retail for under Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom). In our opinion, Honda might launch the CB300R with an introductory price tag of between Rs 2.3 lakh and Rs 2.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the bike have already started at Honda Wing World showrooms for Rs 5,000.

Talking about the powerplant, the new offering is powered by a 286cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder DOHC engine delivering 31.4PS at 8500rpm and 27.5Nm at 7500rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. While Honda bikes aren’t renowned for their styling, the CB300R is an exception with its neo-sports cafe styling. Honda hasn’t skimped on features as the bike gets LED lighting all-around, fully-digital instrument console and dual-channel ABS. Once launched, the Honda CB300R will rival the likes of the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (taking pricing into consideration).
