Looking for the most feature-rich bike of the two? Here’s which one you should pick

Honda Shine 100 vs Shine 100 DX

The Honda Shine 100 and Shine 100 DX are essentially the same bike and if you are in the market for one of these, you might get confused about the differences in features between the two. The differences are few and let’s have a look at them below:

The major difference in the features department is the LCD instrument console in the Shine 100 DX which shows speedometer, clock, fuel gauge and distance to empty readouts. It also has a live mileage indicator in the console. The Honda Shine 100, on the other hand, has a dual-pod analogue instrument cluster that shows speedometer and odometer readings on the right-hand side and a fuel gauge readout on the left-hand side.

Other differences include a chrome finish on top of the headlight and a wider fuel tank in the Shine 100 DX. Both bikes get twin shock absorbers at the rear but the unit in the Shine 100 DX gets 5-step preload adjustability. The Honda Shine 100 DX also gets fresher-looking graphics and four colour options: Geny Gray Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black and Imperial Red Metallic. The colour options available on the Shine 100 include Red With Black, Blue With Black, Gray With Black, Green With Black and Orange With Black. The Shine 100 is priced at Rs 63,441 while the Shine 100 DX is priced at Rs 69,944 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).

The two bikes are otherwise identical. Both are powered by a 98.98 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 7.4PS and 8.05Nm and are paired to a 4-speed gearbox. The suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. At the front, the bikes get a 130mm drum brake and at the rear, they get a 110mm drum brake. The Honda Shine 100’s rivals are the Hero Splendor Plus, Bajaj Platina 100 and the TVS Sport. The Honda Shine 100 DX rivals the Hero HF Deluxe Pro.

If you are looking to buy a more powerful Honda commuter bike, you can take a look at the Honda Shine 125 and the Honda SP125, both of which have been compared for specifications in this story.
