That said, it is around Rs 5,700 to Rs 7,100 more expensive than the BS4 Dio

  • The Honda Dio BS6 gets a telescopic front fork and a 12-inch front wheel.
  • It now comes with an external fuel filler like the Activa 6G.
  • The engine gets the same features as the Honda Activa 6G, including the ACG starter.

The Honda Dio BS6 has been launched in India at Rs 59,990 for the Standard variant and Rs 63,340 for the Deluxe variant. This makes it dearer than the BS4 Honda Dio by Rs 5,749 and Rs 7,099, respectively. The popular moto-scooter from Honda comes with a 3-year standard warranty and customers even get the option to extend it by another three years. The standard model is available in four colours whereas the Deluxe version comes in three.

The scooter comes with the same fuel-injected BS6-compliant engine as the Honda Activa 6G but is tuned differently. In the Dio, the motor makes 7.76PS at 8000rpm and 9Nm at 4750rpm whereas the Activa produces 7.79PS at 8000rpm and 8.79Nm at 5250rpm. That said, it comes with the same set of features, including the silent starter, friction reduction and tumble flow technology.

Other notable features include a redesigned, fully digital instrument cluster which shows details like average and real time mileage; pass-beam and engine kill switch; side stand indicator with engine cut-off function and more importantly, an external fuel filler cap that can be opened from the apron-mounted dual-function switch.

For a more comfortable ride, the scooter also gets a new telescopic front fork with 12-inch steel wheel whereas the rear comes with a  new 3-step preload-adjustable rear shock absorber and a smaller 10-inch steel wheel. Brakes include 130mm drum units on both ends with standard CBS. Honda has not offered a front disc even as an option. At 107kg kerb, the Honda Dio BS6 is heavier than the BS4 Dio by 3kg.

Externally, the scooter looks a lot sportier than before thanks to the redesigned apron section, LED headlamp and LED DRLs. The side panels are slightly reminiscent of the Honda Grazia. At the rear, the single-piece grab rail has been replaced with split units and the tail section has also been redesigned to accommodate the external fuel filler cap. The primary rival of the Honda Dio BS6 is the Hero Maestro Edge FI.
