Hero’s first 125cc scooter is off to a good start, with 21,352 units sold in January

  • This is the first time the Destini 125’s sales have crossed the 20,000 mark.
  • The Destini 125 is available in two variants: LX and VX.
  • First Hero scooter to be equipped with start-stop technology.

Last year, TVS launched the Ntorq 125 and instantly, the funky scooter was a hit amongst the masses. Within just eight months of its launch, TVS had already sold 1 lakh units of the Ntorq 125, making it one of the most successful TVS-badged scooters of all time. Now though, the Hero Destini 125 has overtaken the Ntorq 125 in terms of sales.

Since its launch in October last year, the Destini 125 has been racking up some pretty good numbers. Just after one month of its launch, Hero sold 16,047 units of the Destini 125. With these impressive numbers, the Hero Destini 125 made a place for itself in the top-10 scooters in November 2018.

While Hero’s overall sales has been affected, the Destini 125 has registered strong sales. Such has been its success that the 125cc scooter has now overtaken the TVS Ntorq 125. The company sold a staggering 21,352 units of the Destini 125 in January 2019, the first occasion that sales for the Destini have crossed the 20,000 units landmark.

Powering the scooter is a 124.6cc engine that produces 8.7PS of power and 10.7Nm of torque. The Destini 125 is also the first Hero scooter to come with i3S start-stop technology. It is available in two variants: LX and VX. While the LX variant has a price tag of Rs 54,650, the VX variant costs Rs 57,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of rivals, the Destini 125 locks horns with the Suzuki Access 125 and the Honda Activa 125.

In other news, Hero might launch the Maestro Edge 125 later this month. The new Maestro will share most of the mechanical parts with the Destini 125, but will share its styling with the Maestro 110.
