Going by the teaser, the bike could come with knuckle guards

  • The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V special edition is to commemorate Apache range’s 4 million unit sales milestone.
  • The teaser clearly shows an air-cooled engine and the Apache RTR 160 4V’s distinct LED headlamp.
  • Is likely to command a premium of around Rs 2,000 over the rear disc brake-equipped variant.

TVS has sent out a teaser of its upcoming offering in celebration of the Apache’s landmark 4 million sales milestone. While we had earlier suspected it to be a special edition version of the flagship TVS Apache RR 310, the teaser indicates it could be the Apache RTR 160 4V. Expect this special edition variant to come with an exclusive livery, and the teaser image also hints at the presence of a pair of knuckle guards.

These additions should make the already-sporty-looking motorcycle look even more premium. The knuckle guards should also give it a proper streetfighter look like the KTM 390 Duke

Expect the mechanicals to remain unchanged. The bike will continue to be powered by the same 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine with oil cooler as the standard version. It works in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission and churns out 16.02PS and 14.12Nm.

The underpinnings such as telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, petal disc on both ends are expected to be shared with the regular variant. The bike will get a single-channel ABS, as usual. Expect the motorcycle to command a premium of around Rs 2,000 over the rear disc brake-equipped variant, which retails at Rs 1,08,550 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Adding a sportier looking variant to the more affordable Apache RTR 160 4V family makes sense as it will appeal to a wider section of audience who are conscious about spending and may not want to put down a huge amount of money on a flagship bike. After all, the core sales numbers come from the affordable motorcycles and not the premium ones. The new variant will be unveiled tomorrow, so stay tuned for updates!
