Honda has announced new colour schemes for the 2022 Grom: black, white, and yellow (for the non-ABS variant) and blue (for the ABS variant). Further customisation is also possible, thanks to a set of new stickers that can be slapped onto the snap to remove body panels. These stickers cost an extra $129.95 (about Rs 9,500).

The non-ABS variant retails at $3,399 (Rs 2.4 lakh), while the ABS version will set you back by $3,599 (Rs 2.6 lakh).

Groms or monkey bikes are a popular genre overseas. These miniature bikes are all about having fun, standing out, and expressing one's individuality. And what better way to do so with a bunch of new colours and supporting stickers. You can even let your imagination run wild by coming up with your own colour schemes on Honda’s website. All you need is the template image of the bike provided by Honda.

Other than the funky new colours, the bike also packs a new and improved engine. The compression on the 123.9cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor has been increased from 9.3:1 to 10.0:1. The outcome is a power figure of 9.83PS and a peak torque output of 10.43Nm. The bore and stroke have also been revised to improve the engine’s bottom-end grunt without hampering its fuel efficiency.

Other notable changes include a 5-speed transmission replacing the older 4-speed gearbox, a new oil filter, and a larger 6-litre fuel tank. The rest of the bike remains unchanged; you have the same suspension and braking setup as before.

Honda did experiment with the Grom-styled Navi in India, which unfortunately wasn’t to everyone’s liking. Besides, a monkey bike priced well over Rs 2 lakh would find few takers in a price-sensitive market like ours. So don’t expect to see the 2022 Honda Grom in India.
