Hyosung GV650 Aquila Pro: Expert Review

Published On Jun 26, 2015 By Akshit Juneja for Hyosung GV650 Aquila Pro

The pros: Bold and aggressive looks, high level of comfort and riding position, quick and agile.

The cons: Evident welding joints and cheap plastic on the instrument cluster, the fuel gauge was completely misleading. Vibration increase drastically at high rev.

The crux: Despite some minor shortcomings, I believe, it is a good value for money proposition and makes sense for those who intend to stand out of the crowd.

Rating

It was the early 2000s when Hyosung first entered the Indian market with a 250cc, V-twin Aquila. With good looks and a powerful engine on-board, the cruiser became a hit right away. A decade later the Korean manufacturer, with DSK as its new associate, re-introduced the Aquila name and promised to make the same impact with its new power cruiser Aquila GV650 Pro.

Although it has been on sale for quite a while now, we took one for a spin only recently. Better being late than never, isn’t it?

Design:

This is one area where Hyosung should be given full marks. GV 650 Aquila Pro looks like a good blend of a custom chopper and a modern power cruiser. The first thing that comes to your notice is the abundant usage of chrome on every possible part, which definitely attracts a lot of stares. Though I am not a big fan of ‘bling,’ its proportionate use on this motorcycle with the blackened cycle parts, makes it look very good overall.

It’s certainly not an enthusiast’s motorcycle and is targeted at the non-enthusiastic crowd, those who want to attract a lot of stares when they move out on occasions. Despite some minor shortcomings, I believe, it is a good value for money proposition and makes sense for those who intend to stand out of the crowd.
