CB350RS is powered by a 348.36 ccbs6-2.0 engine which develops a power of 21.07 PS and a torque of 30 Nm. It has Disc front brakes and Disc rear brakes. The weight of Honda CB350RS is 179 kg and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 15 L.

Honda CB350RS

The Honda CB350RS is a sportier-looking alternative to the H’ness CB350, on which it is based. While the CBR50RS and the H'ness CB350 share the same mechanical setup, the former gets a more scrambler-themed design, along with a distinctive-looking rear section with a sleeker tail lamp and turn indicators, as well as block pattern tyres.

Price:

Honda offers the CB350RS in four variants – DLX, DLX Pro, DLX Pro dual-tone and New Hue Edition. The base-spec DLX variant comes in two colour options: Mat Massive Grey Metallic and Athletic Blue Metallic, and is priced at Rs 2,14,856. The DLX Pro variant is priced at Rs 2,17,857 and is available in Radiant Red Metallic colour.

The DLX Pro dual-tone variant carries the same price as the DLX Pro, and is available in a Black with Pearl Sports Yellow colour scheme. The range-topping New Hue Edition is on sale for Rs 2,19,357 and is available in two colours – Sports Red and Athletic Blue Metallic. All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.

Engine:

The Honda CB350RS shares its single-cylinder, air-cooled, 348.36cc counterbalanced engine with the other CB models from Honda in the 350cc category. Paired with a 5-speed transmission, this engine produces 21 PS@5,500 rpm and 30 Nm@3,000 rpm.

Suspension And Brakes:

Based on a half-duplex cradle frame, the Honda CB350RS gets telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the back. The CB350 gets a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear alloy wheel, wrapped with a 100-section front and 150-section rear tubeless block pattern tyres. For braking, the CB350RS gets a 310mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard.

With a 15-litre fuel tank, the Honda CB350RS has a ground clearance of 168mm and a seat height of 800mm. It weighs 179kg kerb.

Key features:

The Honda H’ness CB350 gets an all-LED lighting. The part-digital instrument console of the Honda CB350RS features Bluetooth connectivity and a smartphone voice control system (except for the base DLX variant), with the LCD screen displaying data like average mileage, real-time mileage, battery voltage meter, distance to empty and gear position indicator. The Honda CB350RS also gets a traction control system, and emergency stop signal (activates the hazard lamp function in case of sudden braking).

Rivals:

The Honda CB350RS' closest scrambler alternatives would be the Yezdi Scrambler, and the Royal Enfield Scram 411. It is also priced similarly to other motorcycles in the sub-400cc segment, such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa 42 and Yezdi Roadster.

Honda CB350RS Pros and Cons

Things We Like in CB350RS

  • The neo-retro design has been executed very well and the bike looks pretty good
  • Engine is very smooth and refined, with no vibrations felt even at higher speeds
  • Brakes are very responsive and provide good feedback

Things We Dont Like in CB350RS

  • Is quite a bit expensive when compared to its rivals
  • Lacks a distinct flavour, and feels like just a slightly altered variant of the CB350 H’ness
  • Engine lacks the bottom end torque expected from a long stroke motor
BikeDekho Verdict:
The CB350RS is a decent motorcycle but overall suffers from a lack of clear identity and feels like a CB350 H’ness alternative just for the sake of it. The bike doesn’t offer anything extra and suffers from the same issues as the CB350 H’ness. The only reason why one should get this bike is if a sportier riding posture is what you are looking for.

Stand Out Features

  • Honda CB350RS Pros and Cons

The wide handlebar and slightly rearset footpegs gives a sportier riding posture

  • Honda CB350RS Pros and Cons

Seat is long and spacious, also provides a comfortable experience thanks to the good padding

  • Honda CB350RS Pros and Cons

The switchgear feels quite premium and also looks quite good.

CB350RS Expert Review

The Honda CB350RS is the sportier derivative of the H’ness, with different tyres, rear-set footpegs and flatter handlebars. The bike is aimed at younger riders who also like to ride on light trails. Here’s how it performs in the real world:

Design

The CB350RS can be best described as the youthful sibling of the H’ness 350 and the design features that Honda has used clearly makes the bike stand out. The first thing that people will notice is the ring around the LED headlamp and its rear LED tail lamp that looks very similar to the one we have seen on the CB300R. The indicators are sharper compared to the H’ness’ round ones.

There are other changes such as the bashplate and a new upswept exhaust that comes in a matte finish. These changes are complimented by a sportier riding posture with rear-set footpegs and a wider handlebar. The colour schemes that have been offered with this bike, even on the newer editions, have a distinctly modern appeal to it as opposed to the retro design on the H’ness.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

The CB350 gets the same 350cc air-cooled single cylinder engine that the H’ness has, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It produces 21.07PS at 5500rpm and 30Nm at 3000rpm.

Since it’s the same engine as the H’ness, it also suffers from the same weaknesses. That means, it also lacks bottom end torque. However, once you’re past the initial sluggishness, riding around in the city is a breeze. Another pain point is the tall gearing that makes overtaking tricky. It also makes riding uphill less exciting as the bike feels like it has run out of breath on such roads. Refinement wise, the engine is absolutely amazing, and vibrations won’t be felt even at higher speeds.

Handling & Ride Quality

Handling wise the CB350RS is quite impressive and the first thing that a rider will notice is the responsiveness this bike displays. Weaving in and out traffic is quite easy. The light kerb weight of 179kg makes the handling even better and so does the sportier riding posture.

When looking at ride quality, the engine refinement combined with the suspension setup provides the rider with a very pleasant overall experience. It feels quite nice to cruise at higher speeds thanks to the lack of vibrations. Moreover, the suspension setup is balanced enough to ride over bad roads with ease. The 168mm ground clearance is also decent for most potholes.

Braking is handled by a 310mm and 240mm at the front and rear respectively. The brakes are quite responsive, giving excellent feedback and bringing the bike to a halt quickly. Dual-channel ABS is standard on all variants.

Comfort

When it comes to comfort, the CB350RS doesn’t disappoint. While it may not be as good as the H’ness with the upright riding posture, the CB350RS still does a decent job. The wide seat is quite spacious and when it comes to seating comfort, the seat is a bit towards the softer side but not too soft that it starts becoming uncomfortable. As mentioned earlier, the suspension setup is able to handle most potholes and rides on the CB350RS overall are quite smooth.

Features

In terms of features the bike comes with all-LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The instrument cluster offers a wealth of information from average mileage and distance to empty to gear position and battery voltage. All variants except the base DLX get smartphone connectivity via bluetooth, turn by turn navigation and Honda Smartphone Voice Control system (HSVCS). The bike also gets a switchable traction control system, along with smaller things like hazard lamp functions and toe-only gear shift lever. That said, the switchable traction control doesn’t really make sense for a bike in this segment.

Should you buy Honda CB350RS

The Honda CB350RS is a bit expensive for what it offers. More importantly, the Honda CB350RS doesn’t have a clear identity. It feels more like Honda made the CB350RS as an alternative to the H’ness for just the sake of it, and the bike doesn’t live up to the hype either. If you’re looking for a relaxed, old-school motorcycle with modern elements, you might be happy with buying the H’ness itself, unless you’re willing to pay a premium for the slightly snazzier styling of the CB350RS.
