1999. Before commencing solo operations, Honda had partnered with Kinetic from 1984 to 1998 and with Hero from 1984 to 2011. While its partnership with Kinetic was a successful one, the brand Honda became a household name in India after it partnered with Hero and provided its iconic ‘sloper engine’ for commuter bikes such as the Splendor, CD100, Passion, etc. Against popular opinion, Honda introduced the Activa automatic scooter and as we know now, it went on to become its highest selling two-wheeler in India and remains the most popular scooter on sale here. Other notable introductions in the motorcycle segment from the Japanese brand includes the Honda CB Unicorn, CB Shine, CB Hornet and the CBR range.
