• Hero MotoCorp launched its new flagship motorcycle, the Mavrick 440. It is a neo-retro roadster available in three variants starting from Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom).
• Alongside the launch of the Mavrick 440, Hero MotoCorp also launched the new Xtreme 125R, a new premium 125cc motorcycle positioned above the Super Splendor and the Glamour.
• Hero also showcased the exclusive CE001, a sporty limited-edition motorcycle based on Karizma XMR, of which only 100 units will be made.

Who is the Owner and CEO of Hero MotoCorp?

The roots of Hero MotoCorp go back to 1984 when Hero Honda Group started as a joint venture between Hero Cycles of India (owned by the Munjal brothers, with Brijmohan Lall Munjal as its founder) and Honda Motor Company from Japan. Under this joint venture, Hero and Honda came together to make motorcycles, with Honda providing technical expertise.

However, in 2010, the board of directors decided to end the joint venture between Hero Group and Honda in a phased manner. It led to the Hero Group, led by the Munjal family, buying out Honda’s stake and renaming the company as Hero MotoCorp Limited in 2011. The term i3S stands for Idle Stop-Start System, which automatically switches off the engine after idling for a while in traffic. The system turns the engine back on with just a pull of the clutch lever.
