Key Specs of R NineT Racer
BMW R NineT Racer Highlights
19 June 2018: BMW's cafe racer, the R nineT Racer, was launched at the 2017 India Bike Week for Rs 17.3 lakh (ex-showroom). As part of the company's Heritage family of classic, retro-inspired bikes with boxer-twin engines, the R nineT Racer requires no effort to make a statement for itself.
At the front, the motorcycle features a retro-styled front cowl with a round headlamp and a laid back windscreen. Its 17-litre fuel tank sports a bulbous look with well defined knee recesses that extend into the thin small saddle. The arched rear helps complete the bike’s cafe racer looks. The R nineT Racer comes with BMW Motorsports' classic three-tone colour scheme.
Powering the bike is a 1170cc, air-cooled, flat-twin engine. This unit churns out 110PS of power at 7750rpm and 116Nm of torque at 6000rpm. The Bavarian giant claims the bike can achieve a top speed of 200kmph!
Suspension duties are handled by 43mm telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking is handled by 320mm twin-disc brakes at the front and a 265mm single-disc brake at the rear, with ABS being offered as a standard. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels.
The BMW R nineT Racer goes up against the Triumph Thruxton R and the Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe Racer.
