BMW S 1000 R

BMW S 1000 R is a motorcycle with a starting price of Rs 19 Lakh. It is available in India in 3 variants and 3 colours with high end variant price starting from Rs 23.30 Lakh. S 1000 R is powered by a 999 ccbs6-2.0 engine which develops a power of 165 PS and a torque of 114 Nm. It has Double Disc front brakes and Disc rear brakes. The weight of BMW S 1000 R is 194 kg and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 16.5 L.

BMW S 1000 R Price

The 2021 BMW S 1000 R is offered in three variants: Standard, Pro, and Pro M Sport. The base variant is priced at Rs 17,90,000, whereas the Pro and Pro M Sport retail at Rs 19,75,000 and Rs 22,50,000, respectively. 

BMW S 1000 R Features

Apart from LED lights all around, the S 1000 R is loaded with a comprehensive electronics suite. The list includes three ride modes (Road, Rain, Dynamic), cornering ABS and multi-level traction control, and a Bluetooth-enabled navigation system. All these can be accessed through the 6.5-inch TFT screen.

The Pro variant gets extra goodies like additional riding aids, keyless ignition, cruise control, and a bi-directional quickshifter. The Pro M Sport is loaded with lighter carbon fibre wheels, a Lithium-ion battery, a data logger, a different exhaust system, and heritage ‘M’ colours.

BMW S 1000 R Engine

Powering the bike is a BS6-compliant, 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four, producing 167PS and 114Nm. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine hasn’t lost any power despite obeying the stringent emission norms. Instead, BMW claims to have improved the rideability quotient. 

BMW S 1000 R Suspension & Brakes

The bike is suspended on a 45mm USD fork and an adjustable monoshock. For 2021, BMW has used a new ‘Flex Frame’ for better handling. Braking hardware comprises dual 320mm front discs and a 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The 2021 S 1000 R rolls on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyres (for the cast aluminium wheels) and 200/55 rear tyres (for the carbon wheels). 

BMW S 1000 R Rivals

Its list of foes includes the Ducati Streetfighter V4, Kawasaki Z H2, and the Triumph Speed Triple 1200. However, for a similar price, you can also get the Triumph Rocket 3 and Ducati Diavel 1260.
