17th June, 2015: Yamaha YBR is a premium commuter motorcycle introduced by the company to cater the common mass of the country. The bike comes in two variants: Yamaha YBR 125 and YBR 110. The body design of both the models remains the same without any considerable change. Priced at Rs. 50,846 for the 125cc variant and Rs. 46,465 for the 110cc variant, the bike is available at the dealerships in the following colors - Red and Black, Gold and Black. The bike competes strongly against leading commuter motorcycles such as TVS Star City+ and Hero MotoCorp Passion Pro.

Yamaha earlier introduced two commuter bikes such as Alba and Libero, that failed miserably in the Indian market. The pity situation made the company to come up with something even more competitive in the commuter segment that led them to bring another utility product christened as Yamaha YBR.
Yamaha YBR comes in two engine options viz. 125cc and 110cc. YBR 125 gets its power from 123cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that churns out a net power of 10.7bhp at 7,500rpm with a peak torque of 10.4Nm at 6,500rpm. On the other side, the 110cc variant is propelled by 106cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that generates a maximum power of 7.5bhp at 7,500rpm with a peak torque of 7.9Nm at 6,000rpm. Both comes paired with a four-speed constant mesh gearbox with well-spaced gear ratios that ensures a superior all-round performance. The bike progresses on 2.75-18" 4PR front and 3.00-18 6PR rear tyres that offer a good grip on the road. The stopping power is provided by reliable 130mm drum brakes that works well in all conditions. The suspension system comprises of telescopic forks at the front and coil spring assisted hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear.
Being a commuter motorcycle, Yamaha YBR lacks the sportiness and eye-catchy elements altogether and comes with a plain and simple body styling. The bike comes with unique color combinations that make it look more desirable and pleasing. The fuel tank is designed elegantly that offers a good riding position to the rider. The sleek and long comfortable seat isn't top notch but still it provides enough comfort to both, the rider as well as pillion. Talking about the rear, the bike features a fascinating tail lamp unit that looks robust along with the clear lens turning blinkers.
Yamaha YBR has the body dimensions of 2,040mm x 715mm x 1,095mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of 1,285mm and 185mm respectively. It has been assisted with a 13 liter fuel tank that gives it a long range without refuelling. The instrument console of the bike remains old and usual with analogue speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge.
Yamaha YBR can be seen as the facelifted version of its discontinued predecessors. The bike possess sporty looks with attractive graphics and features the same side panels and seat that used to come in its elder mate, Yamaha Alba. The aerodynamically designed cowl has character lines that convey a sense of sharpness and enhances the overall appeal. The bike has a longer and comfortable seat that provides enough comfort to the rider and pillion. Coming towards the rear, it comes with a robust tail lamp section that looks premium and gives a high-end feel. The bike looks fascinating in an all-black theme and the sleek silencer with chromed muffler further intensifies the bike’s overall character.
Yamaha YBR 110 receives the following body dimensions: 2,040mm x 715mm x 1,095mm (LxWxH) and has a wheelbase of 1,285mm. A minimum ground clearance of 185mm and seat height of 780mm make the bike easy to ride and comfortable for Indian roads. Furthermore, it has been assisted with a 13 litre fuel tank capacity that has a reserve store of 1.5 litres. The instrument console is completely analogue and consists of a speedometer, an odometer, an analogue fuel gauge, direction indicators and other indicators. The bike is easy to handle with a weight of 126kg.
Yamaha YBR 125 gets its power from a 123cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that churns out a net power of 10.7bhp at 7,500rpm with a peak torque of 10.4Nm at 6,500rpm. The mill comes mated to a four-speed constant mesh gearbox with well-spaced gear ratios and uses wet multiplate clutch assembly.
On the other hand, Yamaha YBR 110 is propelled by a 106cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that comes mated to a four-speed transmission system. It develops a maximum power of 7.5bhp at 7,500rpm with a net torque of 7.9Nm at 6,000rpm. The mill has a compression ratio of 9.0:1 and comes with a bore x stroke ratio of 49mm x 56mm.
Telescopic forks at the front and swingarm with spring aided shock absorbers avail a comfortable and stress free ride. YBR 110 comes with 130mm drum brakes at both ends offering a good stopping power. The bike moves on grippy 2.75-18" 4PR front and 3.00-18 6PR rear tyres that have a good adhesion property and offer superior stability.
The stylish & bright 12V-35/35W multi-reflector headlight of the bike provides ample visibility at night thereby avoids any accidents. The engine kill switch makes the rider stop the engine at the time of an emergency. The twin rear view mirrors alerts the rider of any incoming traffic and prevents any mishap. The above mentioned safety features make the bike a true and trustworthy commuter that fits-in well for everyone’s requirements.
