16th March, 2015: Showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, Bajaj finally plans to roll out its biggest Pulsar ever - Bajaj Pulsar 400SS. Being the first sports bike by Pulsar, it has created a good hype among the Indian natives. It will be powered by a 375cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that churns out 41bhp of power. The manufacturer will also launch its younger mate, Pulsar 200SS soon as its bookings has commenced. The bike is expected to hit the Indian dealerships soon with a price tag of over Rs. 1.75 lac. Bajaj Pulsar 400SS will stand competitively against upcoming KTM RC 390.

    Bajaj Auto, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, most renowned for its Pulsar series has introduced two new Pulsars at the 12th Indian Auto Expo. The bike maker brought two new amazing machines named as Pulsar SS400 and CS400. SS stands for Super Sport and CS stands for Cruiser Sport. Pulsar SS400 is an elder sibling of the Pulsar's next generation machine, Pulsar 200NS. Bajaj has not only shown a great interest in the mid-weight segment of bikes but also has planned to make a space in the global market with this innovation.

    Bajaj Pulsar SS400 is a first full fairing motorcycle thus it has a great buzz among the youngsters and riders who love sporty machines and cool designs. The bike has been designed on the lines of the Pulsar 200NS, which is a revolutionary machine in itself. The manufacturer has drawn a bright future of its own with the presentation of these scintillating products. SS400 is a production model by the company which is technically a sibling of KTM Duke 390 though. It is because the company has borrowed the engine of Duke to empower its Pulsar.

    Thus, Bajaj Pulsar 400SS is powered with a 373.2cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine. The engine comes mated with the six-speed manual transmission gearbox. The mill is quite furious as it has the capability to generate a supreme power of 40bhp. The bike is an Indian product that makes it quite apt for the Indian roads and conditions.     Pulsar SS400 is crafted to captivate. The bike almost looks like the faired and high capacity version of Pulsar 200NS. The manufacturer has designed a whole new fairing, muffler, tail light and many other things to make this bike look unique and splendid in its segment. The maker of the machine has used all the equipments that keeps it competitive with the time. There are dual circular headlamps with day running lights at the front facia. Also transparent wind shield and integrated rear view mirrors are present. LED winkers are also a part of the big fairing. Step-up seat for the co-rider and sporty and short muffler with chrome end is sports an aggressive look. Racing style handlebars are equipped with the front forks. Mono-suspension is linked with the swingarm of the bike. Wide tyres, disc brakes and Anti-lock brake system are there to assure the safety of the rider. The half chain case with chrome detailing on foot pegs are some of the elements of its designing. The instrumentation of the bike is half analog and half digital and is almost similar to that of 200NS. Its just that, this time the company has lighten the digital panel with blue color.     APPEARANCE

    The appearance of the bike is simply mind-wavering with the scintillating fairing and impeccable body structure.   • Engine & Performance

    Bajaj has allied with one of the renowned sports star two-wheeler manufacture, KTM India, which has helped the company to share some of their resources like engine of KTM Duke 390. Bajaj Pulsar SS400 carries the same engine as Duke 390 which is a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that has the displacement of 373.2cc. The engine is tuned for better fuel efficiency by Bajaj and has been mated with the 6-speed manual constant mesh. It is now able to deliver a maximum power product of about 40bhp and maximum torque of about 34Nm. The engine incorporates the new triple spark technology with the fuel injection system that adds to the performance of the bike. The engine is as smooth as silk at higher as well as lower and middle revs. It rushes from scratch to 60kmph in mere seconds. The top speed of the bike will be above 130kmph. With fine weight the performance of the bike will be extremely lovable. Fuel efficiency at its best is expected from Bajaj and with the new step into the future, enhanced durability of the engine is also expected.

  • Braking & Handling

    Bajaj for the first time has used Anti-lock brake system to slow down its Bajaj Pulsar SS400. The company has also equipped disc brakes at both the wheels that takes the responsiveness of the brakes to the superior level. The sporty handlebars work fine with the telescopic forks of the prime super-sports bike that improves the stability and handling of the machine. The superior mono-suspension creates mass centralization and leads to comfortable and stable running.
