Yamaha India has introduced the MT-09 at the Auto Expo 2016 at Rs. 10.2 Lac (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is the first motorcycle from the MT series to land on Indian shores, which came as a surprise as the spectators were expecting the MT-03. Talking about the MT-09, it is amongst the highest selling motorcycles from the company’s MT range globally. In India, it will arrive as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) in two colours - Matte Black and Race Blue. It has been positioned against its Japanese counterpart Kawasaki Z800 along with Ducati Monster 821 and the Benelli’s TNT 899

The beating heart of this animal is an 847cc, 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke DOHC, 4-valve powerplant having Yamaha’s Blue Core Technology. The smooth powertrain is coupled to 6-speed constant mesh transmission that pumps out 113.42bhp and 87.5Nm of torque  giving it an outstanding acceleration.

The designers of the motorcycle have tried to keep it light, slim and as compact as possible. The bike has been built around an aluminium die-cast frame that contributes to its agile handling and performance. Also, to reduce rear tyre slippage and to bring higher controllability, the MT-09 comes with a Traction Control System that features two riding modes. The first mode gives minimum intervention while the second one gives the maximum, which allows the rider to adjust traction control system depending on the conditions and riding styles.

The MT-09 is designed while keeping practicality and use in mind. It serves its purpose well for sports riding during the weekend trips as well as the daily ride to work.
