India Bike Week 2016

India’s biggest bike carnival is back with a bang. The fourth edition of India Bike Week (IBW) is scheduled to take place on February 19 and 20, in Goa. With more than 12,000 participants expected, IBW 2016 will be a mix of biking events and music performances. The week will witness many music performances by well-known bands and artists. Here is a list of band performances that will keep you grooving at the 2016 India Bike Week.

1. Midival Punditz

Midival Punditz

The Delhi-based band consists of the dynamic duo - Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj. After setting up their studio, they launched Punditz in 1997. Midival Punditz reached the audience with Cyber Mehfils, a modern update on an ancient north Indian tradition of artistic gatherings. The Cyber Mehfil brought sounds of modern electronica to the traditional music of the subcontinent. Besides having composed music for movies like Don, Chak De India and Karthik Calling Karthik, they have also given music to Hollywood movies and popular TV series like Prison Break and Six Feet Under.

2. The Other People

The Other People

The Other People is an Indian pop/rock band having six members. This band is popular across the country at various clubs and performs at concerts & private events. It has performed at many venues in India including The Blue Frog, Hard Rock Café, Opus, Amadeus, Shiro and V Spot Café and also did shows abroad in places like Hong Kong, Macau, Muscat, Mauritius, Bhutan and Abu Dhabi.

3. Girish and the Chronicles (GATC)

GATC is the first Indian Rock Band that participated in Suncane Skale International Music Festival in Montenegro, Europe. Founded in 2009, it has recorded 14 original songs in association with Universal Music Group and has launched its debut album in association with UMG, VH1 India and Hard Rock Cafe. The band has previously performed at over 500 shows in places like Europe, Dubai, Hong Kong?, Vietnam, Thailand? and various parts of India. Also, Girish Pradhan was awarded ‘Best Vocalist in India’ award at Yamaha Asian Beat Competition in 2011.

4. Thaalavattam

Thaalavattam

Thaalavattam is more of a project than a band. It aims towards cleaning up the plastic waste in the country through music. The founder, Montry Manuel uses recycled materials to build all instruments. Things like paint cans, soda bottle crowns, PET bottles, shock absorbers, bicycle parts and PVC pipes are used to make these instruments. Having dreamt of changing India, Montry left Swarathma band after being a part of it for eight years.

5. Soulmate

Soulmate

In order to spread awareness about the blues of music, Soulmate was formed in 2003 by Rudy Wallang and Tipriti Kharbangar. After that, they became popular in India and abroad. Soulmate has toured the US and was twice semi-finalists at the 23rd & 26th International Blues Challenge. Previously, they have performed in France, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Miri Sarawak, Macau, Dubai, Indonesia, Bhutan and Kathmandu.
