BMW Motorrad is reportedly developing an all new motorcycle to join its line-up of superbikes. A German motoring website has published an illustrative render of the motorcycle and while official details remain speculatory, it is rumoured that the bike will share its heart with the six-cylinder K 1600 GT tourer.

The rendering posted by the website is evidently one of a street-fighter and it is believed that the bike could be christened the K 1600 R. The bike is likely to be based on an aluminium-bridge type frame that has been employed by the BMW S1000R and S1000RR.

The K 1600 GT is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line 6-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder. Displacing 1,649cc, the bike uses a double overhead cam (DOHC) layout with fuel fed through an electronic fuel injection system. On the K 1600 GT, this power-plant produces 160 PS at 7,750 rpm and 175 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox.

As is expected of BMW Motorrad, if this bike is in fact produced, it will come equipped with a variety of safety and ride assistance features such as anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control and different riding modes as well.

Meanwhile BMW Motorrad’s most anticipated launch in India is the G 310 R, which TVS will be producing for BMW in India. The G 310 R was showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and the bike is powered by a 313cc, DOHC, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine that develops 34 BHP @ 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque @ 7,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
