Deepa Malik, a name that makes an impact on every motorist, swimmer and adventurer, and a personality visited India Bike Week 2016. The presence of such a great personality added another value to Asia's largest biking festival, where the riding clubs and other bikers honoured to meet her.

Deepa Malik is our country’s first woman paraplegic biker, swimmer and car rally enthusiast. She started her career as a sportswoman at the age of 36, breaking a number of stereotypes that often place obstacles for women. Her achievements include gold medals at the first Malaysian Open Athletics Championship, CP Sports Nottingham, bronze medals and two Asian records at the World Games Sharjah, more bronzes at Para-Asian Games China, IWAS world games and FESPIC Games Kuala Lumpur.

As a biker, Deepa has been the first woman with her disability, ever, to ride across 9 high altitude passes in nine days on Leh-Ladakh’s highest motor-able roads. This is apart from the multiple records she holds on the Indian, Asian and international levels. Listing her entire career as a sportswoman is nearly impossible, given the expanse of her laurels won by enthusiasm and determination. She has been recognised by corporations and clubs world over, gaining overwhelming support for all her activities.

Needless to say, she is an inspiration to millions who seek adventure against adversity and for us at India Bike Week, because passion is all that drives us to do more!
