Fret not, if you missed the sight of the Honda CBR300R at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI)’s stall as much as we did at the 2016 Auto Expo. However, the Japanese two-wheeler giant understands this and company officials stated earlier this morning that it will be bringing the 300cc update to its ageing CBR250R very soon. The bike is expected to be launched in the country in the first half of 2016 and will directly rival the the likes of KTM RC 390, Yamaha R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300. We believe that the company will price the motorcycle very competitively around Rs. 2.6 lac.

Taking design cues from its larger litre-class sibling, CBR1000RR (Fireblade), the new Honda CBR300R looks like a proper supersport motorcycle. The bike features an aerodynamic full-body fairing along with split pattern headlamp and a transparent windscreen. The bike also has a sharper tail section and sportier exhaust as compared to the existing CBR250R.

Propelling the Honda CBR300R is a rebored version of the existing 249.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine of the CBR250R, with a displacement of 286cc. Using a PGM-FI system with 38mm throttle body, the motor makes up to 30.4bhp of maximum power at 8,500rpm and peak torque up to 27.1Nm at 7,250rpm.

The new CBR300R retains its mechanicals from the CBR250R and will also come with the same 37mm front telescopic forks and Pro-Link single shock with five positions of spring preload adjustability at the rear. The front wheel gets 110/70 section tyre and a 296mm disc brake, while the rear one gets 140/60 section tyre and a 220mm disc brake.
