Honda Organises first Women-Only Bike Race in India

All-ladies Race 2016 Race Action

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) organised a women-only race event on February 21, at Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT), Chennai. While this was the 8th season of Honda One-Make Championship, the women’s category was added for the first time to it, and 10 female racers from across the country participated in it.

Speaking at the occasion, Prabhu Nagraj, VP of Customer Service, HMSI, said, “It is always Honda’s endeavour to bring new categories and excitement to the race. To democratise motorsport, and to offer the adrenaline pumping track experience to our women audiences as well, we have introduced, for the first time in Chennai, an All-Ladies Race.”

Rehana Reya from Chennai won the title by defeating Pooja Dabhi, who was leading the show before the finale. Overall, Pooja secured second position, while the third position was clinched by Chennai’s Soundari A.

“All 10 girls who raced today have been trained by the Honda Racing Training Academy,’’ Nagraj added. In the CBR250 category, it was Sumit Lucas Toppo of Lap Racing and United Tech Torque’s Dinesh Kumar who won one race each, whereas Sarath Kumar, who has already enthroned the championship in January, decided to skip the last round.

On the other hand, In the CBR 150 category, Aravind Balakrishnan won the championship while Kishoar VS took a double triumph for finishing at third in a championship.
