Honda CB Concept II

Honda has unveiled the much anticipated CB Concept II at the 2016 Osaka Motorcycle Show, which was expected to make its debut later at the Tokyo Motor Show. The concept is based on the Honda CB 1100 and gives a glimpse of the future of the Honda CB modern classic range.

The Honda CB Concept II keeps the basic design of its predecessor that was showcased at the last Tokyo Motor Show in September 2015. However, it gets a more cafe racer like characteristics in the styling with lowered handlebars, bar end mirrors, single seat and a rear seat cowl. The spoke wheels are also replaced with new alloy rims fitted with wider tyres as compared to the previous concept.

The 43mm Showa forks at the front of the Honda CB Concept II has a golden finish on the outer tubes while the inner tubes get a black finish. The rear suspension set-up is a pair of Ohlins with separate reservoirs which are also in golden finish. There is a set of radial-mount Brembo brakes up front and a single Brembo unit at the rear.

The powertrain of the Honda CB Concept II retains the same inline-4 motor with air and oil-cooling that powers the existing CB 1100 as well. The new four-into-two exhaust system looks aftermarket. We can also see the use of carbon fibre on the bike’s headlight housing, front fender and air-filter cover.

If it comes into production, the Honda CB Concept II can give a tough competition to the retro styled big bikes like BMW R nineT, Triumph Thruxton R and Yamaha XJR 1300.
