Bajaj recently launched  its latest offering in the affordable 150cc segment under the brand name- ‘V’. The new bike – the V15 has part of the metal  from the INS Vikrant in its tank. This little bit that gives the bike its unique appeal is limited and is going to deplete someday. Now the question is will Bajaj continue the Brand ‘V‘ even after the metal runs out? Sumeet Narang, VP Marketing, Bajaj Auto motorcycle has been quoted saying that, “the brand will be continued even after the Vikrant metal gets exhausted”.

The story behind the launch of this motorcycle is to revive the legacy of the Indian war hero - INS Vikrant. The INS Vikrant was the first aircraft carrier of our country and Bajaj bought a part of the metal from the ship as it was being scrapped. They then melted the pieces of metal from the INS Vikrant and blended it with the metal that they used to make the fuel tank on the V15.

Looking at the tremendous response and numbers of advance booking of the new Bajaj V15, the company aims to sell around 50,000 units of the bike across the country in the next 12-18 months. After that, Bajaj will decide on whether they should expand the brand to other segments. Sumeet Narang was also quoted saying that the company is open to evaluate the need to expand the 'V' brand to other bike segments.

Even though the Bajaj V15 is an affordable 150cc motorcycle with a price tag of Rs. 61,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it gets many premium features like a 120/80 section rear tyre, a front petal disc brake removable rear cowl and has a solid build quality. With all these features at that price point, Bajaj is sure to do well with the V15. Bajaj has also announced that those who book the Bajaj V15 between March 10th-20th, would get deliveries on March 23rd.
