First showcased as the Pulsar CS400, the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar VS400 has been spied during its TVC shoot and is expected to be launched next month.

So, this is how the production version of the much-anticipated Bajaj Pulsar CS400 looks like. Looking at the popularity of the newly launched brand 'V', the bike has been renamed and will be launched as the Pulsar VS400. The bike was spotted undisguised recently during its TVC shoot in Ladakh, providing a complete look of the bike as it will be launched. It seems that the manufacturer is all set to roll out the bike in the market and we can expect its launch as soon as next month.

Bajaj Pulsar VS400

With the launch of the Pulsar VS400, Bajaj aims to redefine the touring motorcycle segment in India. Currently, Royal Enfield is ruling this segment in the country while Mahindra also entered the game last year-end with the Mojo. The Bajaj Pulsar is already the most popular ‘sportbike’ brand in the country and now it aims to take a decent share in the touring segment as well.

The bike looks quite promising and we believe that it has the potential to carve out a bigger market share compared to the Mahindra Mojo. A price tag of near Rs 1.5 lakh will further help the Pulsar VS400 show an aggressive market performance. In the design aspect, the bike is almost identical to the Pulsar CS400 concept that was showcased and much appreciated at the 2014 Auto Expo. Design features of the bike like the masculine fuel tank, low-set headlamp, twin LCD console, sporty muffler and stylish alloy wheels remains unchanged. However, the two major changes include the USD forks that have been replaced with regular telescopic type units and a split seat that takes the place of the single contoured seat.

Built on a perimeter-type frame, the Pulsar VS400 is powered by a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is based on the KTM 390 Duke's motor. The 4-valve powerplant has been tuned for relaxed revving and has a much lesser power output when compared to the KTM 390 Duke. The motor packed in the Pulsar VS400 makes 34.5PS near 8,000rpm while the KTM siblings churns out 43.5PS.

When compared to the existing 200cc Pulsar models, the upcoming Pulsar VS400 has an ergonomically better design with lowered seat height and wider handlebar. The disc brakes of the bike are also bigger and it will get ABS as an optional extra. The rear comes with an adjustable Nitrox monoshock for better comfort and wider tyres will be provided for better grip and stability on long rides. So, we can say that Bajaj is going the right way to recreate the touring motorcycle segment in the country.
