Aprilia SR 150 Slated For India Launch in August

Piaggio owned Aprilia is all set to launch its 150cc premium scooter SR 150 in India. The premium scooter has already been showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, where this scooter earned what it deserved from the crowd. As it is a premium scooter, the SR 150 will be priced somewhere between Rs. 80,000 to 1 lac (Ex-Showroom). Once launched in the country it will create its own premium segment and lock horns with Mahindra’s Peugeot model. Aprilia SR 150 will be the first offering from the stable of this company that will be built in India and also it will be developed at Piaggio India’s plant at Baramati in Maharashtra.

In terms of design, the SR 150 features a pure European touch and its sporty look would make it a desirable option for young Indians. Besides this, the scooter houses a solid front apron with twin headlamps and the turn indicators are fitted on the handlebars.  The scooter comes with a fuel tank of 7 liters capacity and has 775 mm of seat height. It has also been equipped with twin pod analogue instrument panel that includes speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer along with many tail lights. Apart from this, it sports Black-Red color combination sporty seat and split grab rails.

Aprilia SR 150 will share its powertrains with the existing Vespa 150 scooter that is 150cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled, 3-valve engine. The motor is tuned to develop a maximum power of 11.44bhp @ 7000 rpm along with a peak torque of 11.5Nm @ 5500 rpm. The carbureted engine is coupled to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The braking duties will be taken care of by 220mm disc brake at the front and 140mm drum brake at the rear. The scooter runs on 120/70 sticky tyres at both the front and the rear end that are mounted on 14-inch wheels. Furthermore, it employs telescopic fork at the front and single-sided coil spring mono-shock at the rear.
