Bajaj is all set to heat up the 150cc segment with its new affordable offering, the V15. With a tank assembly made using metal from India’s first aircraft carrier - INS Vikrant - the bike is priced at Rs. 63,160 (ex-showroom, Pune)

After stealing Auto Expo thunder with a preemptive unveiling at the start of the month, Bajaj has now silently launched its segment buster motorcycle, the V15 at Rs. 63,160 (ex-showroom, Pune) in Maharashtra. The bookings of the motorcycle for a token amount of Rs. 1,100 had already begun a few days. The bike will be gradually launched in rest of the country and deliveries are set to commence next month. With its fuel tank asssembly made using metal salvaged from India’s premier hero warship - INS Vikrant - the bike has already created much hype in the market. Reportedly, the Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer has purchased a total of three-metric tonne of metal.

The bike has been priced competitively and is expected to return good sales figures in coming months. The 150cc segment is one of the hottest motorcycle segments in the country and most manufacturers have at least one product competing in it. Earlier, Hero and Yamaha had come up with Achiever and SZ-RR, respectively, offering the power of a 150cc engine with the mileage of a 125cc commuter. Both the motorcycles were priced pretty well, but due their ordinary looks, they failed to get expected sales numbers. Bajaj V15 has already garnered much interest for its looks. If it performs as well, Bajaj is looking at a runaway hit. While we are yet to get our hands on the motorcycle and cannot comment on its performance, we can compare it in terms of features and the power figures. Let’s find out whether this Bajaj salvo at Hero’s dominance comes up a winner with this comparison.
