The 2017 KTM 390 Duke has been captured in a spy video, revealing the riding modes, LED headlamp, and many other details of the bike.

The upcoming 2017 KTM 390 Duke was recently spotted testing in India, confirming that the launch of the bike is nearing. Now, the bike has been captured at standstill in a spy video which reveals many other details of the upcoming motorcycle. The test mule captured in the video has a temporary licence plate that belongs to the locality of Pimpri-Chinchwad in the outskirts of Pune. The place is just around 20km from Bajaj's Chakan facility, where the KTM motorcycles are manufactured in India. The bike spotted on test earlier was also having the licence plate of similar RTO, which affirms that the company is testing the bike in a batch to cut down the testing time and introduce it as soon as possible.

2017 KTM 390 Duke Revealed

Now coming to the details of the 2017 KTM 390 Duke, it gets a heavy cosmetic revamp which looks much inspired by the bigger 1290 Super Duke R, especially when you look at the lower-set sharp headlamp and the tank shrouds. The next-gen model gets an LED headlamp unit, always-on DRL and a new tail lamp as well. The new instrument console doesn’t look too convincing, but it will provide some extra information for sure. The new seat is looking more comfortable as compared to the existing model of the bike. Both front and rear mudguards are also looking redesigned and the side cowls are also looking sleeker and minimised. The bike retains the same 10-spoke alloy wheels but the Metzeler rubber has been replaced with Michelin Pilot Street radial tyres.

Powering the 2017 KTM 390 Duke will be the same single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 373cc engine that makes 43.5PS of power and delivers 35Nm of torque. However, the company will retune the motor to match the Euro-4 emission and noise standards. Probably because of that, the company has also replaced the underbelly exhaust with a side-slung type muffler, similar to the European-spec 2016 KTM RC 390. The next generation 390 Duke will also get riding modes for better control of the power delivery in various riding conditions. The 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch assembly will be continued in the 2017 model as well.

Before launching the bike in the market, KTM is expected to unveil the 2017 model of Duke 390 at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan in the month of November, 2016.
