The images of what is claimed to be the 2016 version of Honda’s popular sportbike - CBR 150R are going viral on the internet these days. The bike is spotted doing test runs in Indonesia and is seen with a whole new design philosophy and cosmetic upgrades. While the existing CBR 150R is known more of a sports tourer, the 2016 model seems more track focussed and aggressive.

According to some reports, the new CBR 150R will draw its power from a 150cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that will come mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine is expected to be fine-tuned to churn out some additional torque and power output. The current CBR 150R generates a maximum power of 18.28bhp with a peak torque of 12.66Nm.

The 2016 CBR 150R might be developed on the same diamond type frame that holds the existing version. As seen in the spy images, the suspension setup comprises of telescopic forks at the front along with a rear mono shock absorber. The braking department is expected to receive single disc brakes at the front and rear with a two-channel ABS at least as an option. The new model gains the aggressive twin headlamp section at the front along with a raised rear end just like the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0. The new fully digital instrument cluster has also been spotted that looks quite convincing. The bike also gets LED winkers that are missing in the current version.

Though there is no exact launch date or any other information available at the moment, we can expect the machine to hit Indian shores by year end. Once launched, the machine will go head-to-head with the Yamaha R15 Ver 2.0. The 2016 CBR 150R will hopefully be priced somewhere over Rs. 1.3 lac, a bit higher than the current model. Stay tuned for more updates!
