2016 EICMA: Triumph Street Scrambler Unveiled

Based on the existing Street Twin, the new Triumph Street Scrambler gets some additional features for enhanced off-roading ability.

After launching the Street Cup and the new Bonneville T100, Triumph is strengthening its ‘modern classics’ series with another new motorcycle. The company has unveiled the Street Scrambler at the 2016 EICMA in Milan, Italy, which will soon join the existing Bonneville range in the market. Based on the Street Twin model, the new Street Scrambler has been designed to deliver a more purposeful and beautiful Scrambler style, with unique features and detailing.

Along with the double-downtube, double-cradle frame, the new Street Scrambler also shares the 900cc, parallel-twin engine with the Street Twin. The new 'high torque' motor gets ride-by-wire fuel injection and cutting-edge liquid cooling system, which significantly improves fuel efficiency along with a smoother delivery. Moreover, it has a new extended service interval of 16,000km that results in a reduced cost of ownership. The slick 5-speed gearbox comes with a torque-assisted clutch, providing benefit of easy shifting, and the bike also gets a switchable traction control system.

The dedicated features of the Street Scrambler include durable spoke wheels (larger 19’’ at the front) with dual-purpose Metzler Tourance tyres, longer travel rear shocks, upgraded brakes and switchable ABS. The all new high-level twin exhaust along with the stripped back style and minimal bodywork redefines the iconic feel of the legendary Scrambler machines. Other distinctive features of the new Scrambler are an engine bash plate, interchangeable pillion seat with aluminium rear rack, ‘Bear Trap’ adventure-style front and removable pillion pegs.

Elements providing a premium finish to the new Triumph Street Scrambler include unique real brushed aluminium tank badge, graphite engine badging and rugged aluminium headlight mount. The bike will be made available in three colour options -- Jet Black, Matt Khaki Green and Korosi Red with Frozen Silver.

Like all the other Triumph ‘modern classics,’ the new Street Scrambler also comes with over 150 accessories options. which will help customers personalise their ride.
