Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha is reportedly working on a 250cc bike, which will be a straight competitor to the Honda CBR250R and likes. The bike is expected to make its debut at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi. The new Yamaha YZF-R250 will be launched in India as well, and it will be the new flagship bike of the brand in India. Now, 'Young' the Japanese magazine has released a few images of the bike, revealing that the bike will feature aggressive designing with cues of high-end Yamaha bikes. The basic design language is identical to the R15 but the other styling elements come straight from the eldest in the family the R1.

The rendered images reveal that the YZF-R250 will feature twin projector headlamps with LED treated turn indicators, something that we are already expecting on the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 375. The bike will also have 17-inch tyres with wide profile. While the details of the 250cc engine are still sketchy, we are expecting it to be a liquid cooled single cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine is expected to build a maximum power output of around 25bhp.

The images also reveal that the bike has improved dynamics, which will help it deliver strong performance. Looking at the increasing craze of 200cc bikes in India, Yamaha will definitely garner good sales with its upcoming 250cc bike. Yamaha has to price it aggressively and this machine will find buyers for sure, however the way of success won't be that easy as there are capable rivals in the path including the CBR250R, KTM Duke 200, Duke 390 and upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 375.
